summer outfit: yellow + black

Confession: I love shopping.

When I was young, my dream was to go with a group of friends to the mall after it had closed, but the stores stayed open and we tried on everything we possibly could, and left them all in a heap on the floor when we were done (because hanging everything back up on the hanger is my least favorite part).

Now we have the internet. From the convenience of my home, I can find all sorts of treasures! While I may not be able to try them on, at least I don't have to hang them up when I'm done looking at them. :-)

This summer has been all about skirts, so I thought what better to shop for than a new outfit to go with a classic gray pencil skirt. And since yellow + black is all the rage, I couldn't resist basing my new outfit on that palette.

P.S. While I was browsing for these lovely pieces, I came across a whole slew of shrugs with Victorian flair. Most of them are bridal, but don't you just love the way the neck turns up?

  1. Oh goodness, I love all of those pics! Yellow+gray+black are just awesome together! I think I need that shrug...

  2. I love the combination of gray & yellow!

  3. Thanks, Mikalah! Did you click on the shrug's link? There are photos showing different ways of wearing it...makes me really want it in my wardrobe, too!

  4. Thank you very much for including my work in this beautiful collection! I much appreciate it!

  5. This shawl looks so lovely with my skirt!

  6. I didn't see a link for the victorian shrug- where did you find it?

  7. Just wanted to come over and say hello, since I was just commenting on "Oh Joy" and was about to enter the exact same thing as you did... that I miss Napa!! I thought, a fellow 'Napa gal'... I must visit her:).

I love the yellow and black outfit by the way. Blogging and the internet is a double-edged sword- great for shopping, but not so fun when you're trying to minimize spending!

  8. Thank you all for your nice comments! So glad you like the outfit.

Mikalah: Here's the link to the shrug (in posts I put links in the Image Credits list)

  9. Thanks, Elise! What's your favorite piece?
