tales from the market

Yesterday I had the opportunity to be a hostess at the HandmadeMN Market. It was a lot of fun! Not only did I get to see many great items made by our team, but I was able to get to know other teammates surrounding my hostess table as well. Always nice to put a face to a [shop] name!

First up was Cheri Meyer of fromoutofthecracks. She was my fellow hostess, and I really enjoyed visiting with her about her art, shows, and store ideas. Shown above is her Cyprus Bracelet.

Next to our hostess table was the booth of Laura Jean Bergren. She had both jewelry, like the necklace shown above, and art, such as this abstract collage. We discussed finding time to make art and learning what your audience wants.

Directly in front of the table was a fun display of pendants made from Scrabble pieces and magnets made from dominos and poker chips (such as Cupcake Monster, above). Sarah of SB Design was the creator of these treasures as well as a variety of silver jewelry. We, too, "talked shop": different payment methods, resin techniques, and product photography.

Last but not least was Bath N Beads. As the day got cooler, her scarves and yarn looked cozier and cozier! As the hostess organizer, she gave each of us a gift for helping out. I received her White Ginger and Amber lotion bar, and let me tell you, it smells wonderful! My hands felt great, too. Shown above are her Cocoa Butter Massage Bars.

Thanks to everyone who visited the show! Hope you found many treasures. :-)

  1. Lisa, it was the best day hosting and then meeting and talking with you! Wow... what a turn out at the HandmadeMN Market and I did go home with a cold, I believe I am on the mend, feel much better today. Also, loved talking business with you and your earring holders are a hit.
