a moment of silence

While we have the luxury of watching about the earthquake in Japan and then moving on with our lives, those who have lost everything do not. It's heartbreaking to see the destruction the earthquake and tsunami left in their paths, so I wanted to do something in my little portion of the blogosphere.

You may have already heard of it, but two fellow bloggersLydia of Ever Ours & Lucy of Utterly Engaged, organized For Japan with Love - a fundraiser for earthquake and tsunami relief.

Donations at For Japan, With Love will ShelterBox, which was one of *the* first organizations asked by Japan to help and were on hand on the Saturday after the quake. Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.

As part of this effort, I will be participating in the "Bloggers Day of Silence" on Friday in support of the disaster relief efforts being organized for the people in Japan. If you are a blogger, I encourage you to do the same and display a For Japan, With Love badge on your blog.

Be praying, and be generous.

[JEMA, Japan Evangelical Missionary Association, is another great local group providing relief to disaster victims. They are taking donations here.]
